Give me my old Dynamics NAV, as it is, but in a new version!
With a Full Upgrade we take your old Dynamics NAV system and give you the same thing in 365 Business Central. Your objects (with all of their modifications) are run through a ‘process’ to merge them into Dynamics 365 Business Central objects. We then get a number of upgrade scripts to upgrade the data, as many of the table structures will have changed - in some cases considerably so - depending on the age of your NAV version. This process is carried out on a test system as a starting point and will also have a number of ‘non-upgradable’ objects. We usually strongly recommend avoiding upgrading old reports as the human effort is high and costly (especially between Classic and 365 Business Central). Instead we would recommend looking at Jet and Jet Analytics with Power BI to move you into a more flexible reporting world.
If this sounds dirty, it is if you are on a Classic NAV solution! So many things have changed since this time and you are likely to have stored an awful lot of data and inherited some horrible modifications and process changes. But it's not to say that it couldn't still be the best option of you meet the criteria below. A Full Upgrade is certainly an option if you are on NAV 2013 or 2013 R2, though a small side note is that there is some effort needed to convert reports between 2013 and 365 Business Central which is not required if you are on 2013 R2 and beyond.
